About Us

John Nicolosi and Louise Anderson Nicolosi founded The Nicolosi Foundation for Animal Welfare in 2013. Based in Rhode Island, they have worked alongside many lifesaving organizations to help reduce the euthanasia of healthy dogs and cats in the U.S.—from 3.4 million in 2013 to 748,000 in 2024.

Their mission is to save the lives of innocent pets and keep people and their pets together. They achieve this through extensive collaboration with passionate, like-minded individuals and organizations, equally driven and dedicated to the same goal.

The foundation partners with highly effective spay/neuter organizations across the U.S. and internationally, preventing countless litters of unwanted pets.

In 2013, they launched Always Adopt, a Rhode Island-based nonprofit that hosts the largest Super Dog Adoption Days in New England. Held twice a year, these events bring together reputable rescues, shelters, and local businesses, helping thousands of rescued dogs find loving homes.

Beyond controlling pet overpopulation and finding homes for animals in need, they are committed to actively supporting a world where pets are valued, included, and enrich our lives every day.
